All over Europe, the mainstream parties have tried to prevent right-wing candidates from taking advantage of the European climate that is shifting citizens’ opinions towards the right side of the political spectrum.
In Romania they went as far as annulling the whole election under the bogus suspicion of ‘Russian interference’.
Now, the ruling coalition in Bucharest agreed to rerun a two-round presidential election on May 4 and May 18.
The liberals and Globalists will endorse a single candidate to try to keep right-wing Calin Georgescu from repeating his win in the annulled first presidential round on Nov. 24.

“Amid suspicions of Russian interference, the top court annulled the presidential election and ordered the new coalition government to rerun it in its entirety.
Romania’s outgoing president, Klaus Iohannis, will stay on as head of state until the May election. The new government will approve the calendar for the new ballot on Monday, the Liberals said.
The coalition parties say they agreed to back a single presidential candidate to prevent the far right from winning. Their candidate is Crin Antonescu, a former Liberal leader, though analysts say they may yet switch to backing somebody else.”
But, to the desperation of Romania’s Globalist Political establishment, the candidate they smeared as ‘pro-Putin and far-right’ remains the voters’ first choice.
Financial Times reported:
“More than 40 per cent of respondents surveyed by Verifield in late December said they would back Călin Georgescu for the presidency.
The survey was carried out weeks after the country’s constitutional court annulled a first-round vote in which the far-right candidate came first, saying he probably benefited from an illegal campaign coordinated by Moscow.”
’Georgescu is undoubtedly the biggest danger Romanian democracy has faced in its post-communist history’, [Liberal politician Nicusor Dan] told the Financial Times. ‘His recent performance and our polling numbers confirm that this will be anything but a normal election, as the stakes are high and a large part of the electorate is very angry’.”
