Well, this is interesting. What a surprise. Dirty Judge Jack McConnell, who believes he was recently elected US president, halted President Trump’s current spending freeze.
But Judge McConnell is not some innocent bystander.
Judge McConnell’s organization has received $117.6 million in government funding in total (ending in 2023).
Maybe that’s why he wanted the money to keep flowing. He’s expecting several more million this year!
The Gateway Pundit previously reported on this radical far-left judge who called President Trump a “tyrant” and decries racism as a “white people problem.”
In a bombshell revelation, America First Legal has uncovered damning evidence that federal Judge Jack McConnell, the Rhode Island judge who halted President Trump’s temporary spending freeze, has been deeply entrenched in a taxpayer-funded nonprofit—receiving over $128 million in government funding during his tenure.
“FEDERAL JUDGE McCONNELL MUST RECUSE HIMSELF IMMEDIATELY. AFL has uncovered a major potential conflict of interest for Judge John McConnell, Chief Judge of the federal district court of Rhode Island, who halted President Trump’s temporary spending freeze,” AFL wrote on X.
Judge McConnell has long been associated with Crossroads Rhode Island, a so-called “nonprofit” organization that rakes in millions in government funds under the guise of social programs.
According to AFL’s investigation, McConnell has served on Crossroads’ Board of Directors since 2006, including a decade-long stint as Chair. Even after taking his seat on the federal bench in 2013, McConnell continued to appear as a Director on the NGO’s IRS Form 990 filings.

/4 And, for much of that time, he served as Chair of the Board, a position he held from 2011 through 2021.

Just last year alone, Crossroads Rhode Island received over $18.6 million in government grants, making up more than half of its $30 million revenue.
Since 2009—when McConnell first became Vice Chair—the organization has been showered with over $117.6 million in government funding, including $42 million between 2020 and 2023.

And now, in 2025, Rhode Island state records show another $2.9 million in new taxpayer funding has already been funneled to Crossroads.

This is where the corruption gets even worse. Judge McConnell’s decision forced federal taxpayer dollars to keep flowing into the pockets of state-funded NGOs like Crossroads Rhode Island.
His ruling specifically claimed that federal funding to states was “essential” for maintaining vital programs—programs that just so happen to send millions to his own organization.
According to USA Spending reports, Crossroads Rhode Island has been listed as a sub-awardee on 155 federal grants awarded to Rhode Island state and local governments in the past 15 years.
In 2023 alone, over $10 million in federal funds were funneled through the state to Crossroads—all under the oversight of a judge who is still tied to the organization.
Federal law (28 U.S.C. § 455) is clear: judges must disqualify themselves in any proceeding where their impartiality might reasonably be questioned. Given McConnell’s fiduciary ties to Crossroads Rhode Island, there is no question that his ruling was tainted by personal financial interests.
This is not just an ethical lapse—it’s a full-blown corruption scandal. McConnell had a duty to disclose his involvement and recuse himself from ruling on a case that directly benefited his NGO. Instead, he deliberately kept his ties hidden, while delivering a decision that kept taxpayer money flowing straight into his nonprofit.
