Vice President JD Vance appeared on Face The Nation for his first TV interview since being sworn into office and shined as one would expect despite an expectedly hostile Margaret Brennan.
As TGP readers know, Brennan was part of the CBS drive-by tag team with former partner in crime Norah O’Donnell, who rigged the VP debate in October against Vance’s promise to remain neutral. Despite this, Vance still embarrassed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
Brennan and Vance discussed several issues throughout their interview, including cabinet nominations, immigration, disaster relief, and the J6 pardons. After Vance gave Brennan a brutal lesson on basic economics, he exposed her lack of knowledge about the migrants who came into America under Joe Biden.
The far-left CBS host dared to claim that the hundreds of thousands of refugees who had arrived in America within the last four years were “heavily vetted” before the Trump administration decided to suspend refugee admissions earlier this week.
“I want to ask you about refugee admissions, which were just suspended by the president. That has nothing to do with the U.S. border. Refugee screening takes 18 to 24 months to go through, Brennan began. “They are heavily vetted.”
She then accused the Trump administration of specifically breaking America’s promise to Afghan refugees who had worked with the United States government before
“Left literally at the airport this week were thousands of Afghans who- some of whom had worked with the United States government and were promised to come here,” Brennan added. “When you talked to us in August, you said: ‘I don’t think we should abandon anybody who’s been properly vetted and helped us.’ “Do you stand by that?’
Vance quickly corrected her by noting there have been cases where people who were supposedly properly vetted got caught planning terrorist attacks, including during the 2024 presidential campaign. He then reminded Brennan that his responsibility is to put the American people first, not foreign nationals.
Brennan responded by continuing to insist refugees are properly vetted before Vance dropped this damning reality check on her:
“Just like the guy who planned a terrorist attack in Oklahoma a few months ago?” He retorted.

For reference, the Justice Department back in October announced charges against a 27-year-old citizen of Afghanistan named Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, who was residing in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for conspiring to conduct an Election Day terrorist attack in the United States on behalf of ISIS. According to the DOJ, Tawhedi took steps to liquidate his family’s assets, resettle members of his family overseas, and acquire AK-47 assault rifles and ammunition as part of his attempt to kill Americans allegedly.
A shaken Brennan started replying that it was uncertain whether the terrorist was radicalized before arriving in America before Vance shut her down.
“I don’t really care, Margaret,” he said. “I don’t want that person in my country, and I think most Americans agree with me.”
At that moment, Brennan admitted defeat and moved on to another subject.
