Texas Governor Greg Abbott was on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo and discussed President Trump’s success with his border policies.
“Have you seen a change? Tell us what has happened since President Trump was sworn in as our 47th President,” Bartiromo asked.
“I don’t think there has ever been a more sudden, and swift change in any government operation than under President Trump when he the oath of took office. I would say overnight but on the first hour of his tenure as President. We saw the change where there were military sent to the border. The military were blocking people from crossing the border illegally,” Abbott said.
Governor Abbott also explained that Texas now has support from the US Government and is able to help them with operations too.
“To show how Texas is a partner in all this process, on the hour that President Trump took office, Texas was deploying more buoys in the Rio Grande to deter and deny illegal entry into the country,” Abbott said.
“We suddenly now have a Commander-In-Chief who cares about national security, who cares about securing the border, who is going to enforce the law,” Abbott continued.
Bartiromo also asked Governor Abbott about the process of deportation and what is involved with it.
“Give us a sense of the practical process that is happening right now,” Bartiromo said.
“Hundreds up to close to a thousand are being sent back across the border on a daily basis under the Trump administration,” Abbott said
“The Trump administration is gonna be sending them back to their home countries and demanding compliance by these countries that they take back the people that crossed the border illegally,” Abbott continued.
Governor Abbott also explained the goal of deportation and broke it down into categories.
“I would say there is two categories of people that the Trump administration is sending back. One, they are trying to go after those who are public safety threats who are criminals as well as national security threats,” Abbott said.
“The other they are sending back are those people that think they can cross the border and stay here in the country illegally now, those days are gone,” Abbott continued.
