A 10-year-old boy from El Salvador was found abandoned and in tears after being left behind by smugglers in Maverick County, Texas.
On Thanksgiving morning, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers discovered the young boy lost and equipped only with a phone.
Lt. Chris Olivarez, spokesperson for the TxDPS South Texas Region, revealed that the boy, equipped only with a phone and the knowledge that his parents were somewhere in the United States, had been left to fend for himself by a smuggling guide.
Lt. Olivarez said in a statement:
As many of us are celebrating Thanksgiving with our families & friends. Let’s not forget many children will not get to enjoy the holidays or see their families because they have been placed in a dire situation due to open border conditions, and many more who are trafficked across the southern border are exploited and exposed to a dangerous criminal environment during their journey to the US.
11/28: This morning, TxDPS Troopers found a 10-year-old boy from El Salvador who was brought across the border in Maverick County by a smuggling guide who left him behind.
The child was crying and told troopers a smuggling guide left him behind and that he was lost. The child only had a phone and stated his parents were in the US. The child was turned over to the US Border Patrol.

This heartbreaking incident is just one of many tragic outcomes of the Biden-Harris administration’s refusal to enforce immigration laws and secure the southern border. The administration’s policies have created a magnet for human smuggling networks, placing innocent children in harm’s way.
The Texas DPS revealed even more harrowing discoveries in Maverick County earlier this week.
Over 200 illegal immigrants were apprehended in a single day. Among them were 60 unaccompanied minors, including a 2-year-old girl from El Salvador.
The young girl, found with only a piece of paper bearing a name and phone number, explained that she arrived in the U.S. alone, her parents presumably somewhere inside the country.

In addition to that, some of the illegals were from special interest countries including Mali and Angola. These areas are considered “special interest” because the US Government sees those countries as a threat to national security with potential links to terrorism.

The Biden-Harris administration’s open border agenda has emboldened cartels and smugglers, leading to record-high encounters at the southern border.
